Watch Rachelle Lamb singing Faith Hill at her American Idol audition

Rachelle Lamb, from Mountain View, Misouri attends the St. Louis leg of American Idol auditions. And like Britnee Kellogg yesterday, Rachelle is a soon-to-be divorcee whose husband crushed her dreams of singing success. She tells the judges that her husband “took her dreams away” from her. And naturally, as a two-fingered salute to Mr Dream-Crusher, Rachelle plans to audition for Idol. Take that, pig!
Doing American Idol is something that I’ve always wanted to do, and I know it’s something that can give us a better life and show her ‘don’t let anybody hold you back’. You wanna chase your dreams? Chase them, and mommy will always be behind you.
And tonight, hand in hand with her little girl Madison, she sings Find Somebody New by Faith Hill. The 26 year old construction worker gives a fairly rushed vocal performance, but she otherwise has a tuneful voice that would turn itself well toward country music. What’s cute is Rachelle dancing with her daughter, and that lyric, “They’ll be together forever, ’til they find somebody new!” Very appropriate! Randy Jackson tells her daughter: “Wow, mommy’s good!”
Steven Tyler tells Rachelle: “I think you sing great. I think you’ve got a great sense of melody, and you know I like your moxie.” Jennifer Lopez compliments her on the “energy” in her voice. Randy Jackson says: “A lot of pure tone in your voice. I mean, I love it. I’m impressed.”
The judges have no problem passing Rachelle for a Golden Ticket to Hollywood, and the jubilant mother of one told Ryan Seacrest that it was “the biggest dream I’ve ever done in my life”.
