Melanie Amaro Gains Confidents, Rocks Michael Jackson
Last week’s outburst from Melanie Amaro proved to be the greatest thing for X Factor this season. We all know that Melanie can sing, but up until last week she was shy, nervous and lacked the confidence needed tow in. After showing her true colors last week, Melanie returned with an attitude comparable to a pop goddess like Kelly Clarkson.
Simon Cowell chose Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” for Melania, noting that it could be great or disastrous. Melanie looked sexy as she beamed attitude during the heavy rifts of the chorus, but showed an innocent side during the quiet verses. It was so great to see a confident Melanie on stage. I can’t help but quote American Idol’s Randy Jackson, this girl is “in it to win it!”
Here’s what the judges had to say:
L.A. Reid: “Melanie, for one second I forgot that we were in a competition. And I felt we were at a Melanie Amaro concert. You were amazing and maybe the best of the night. I’m sure it had nothing to do with Simon, but that was good.”
Nicole Scherzinger: “Best of the night and best performance I have seen on this entire show. If that performance doesn’t save a small country somewhere, what would?”
Paula Abdul: “Flawless and you nailed it!”
Simon Cowell: “I could not be more proud. The fact that the Jackson family is sitting here, and I couldn’t think of a better way to pay tribute to the greatest artist of all time.”
Yes I too thought Melanie was AMAZING – goosebumps. Drew did a good job but I’m turned off of her stubbornness to do the same tempo, style and sitting – shame because at her age she could be big. She holds the mike too close to her mouth. Wrong song choices for Chris Rene (again) but I believe he could be a great song writer some day. Marcus’s vocals and performance were weak – back flip did not fit the song – but usually he is quite good. Rachael was boring – needs a better song maybe – but usually her songs and performances are not memorable – maybe she is too young. Astro’s rap sounded like it didn’t fit the music. He has had a few really great performances in the past. And I believe he has strong writer potential as well. I couldn’t really hear Josh’s voice – loved the dancers – but love when a contestant plays an instrument occasionally. Melanie was clearly far ahead of them all put together tonight.
Melanie is the real DEal America give praise where its due by giving melanie a USD 5 million she deserves it.
Oh. I’m not convinced. I felt she was weak in the early verses and didn’t really begin to “rock it” until she got much throatier in the second half of the song.
To be fair though, I heard similar things on the other performances from Astro, Josh and others. It feels like the production was actually drowning out their voices and they were straining to be heard over the noise.
Loved Melanie thats a given. However, when I learned of the theme I instantly wanted Marcus to sing PYT and ended up a little disappointed. I dont know if my tv or what but the music faded in and out and it wasnt anywhere near what I expected. It happened on more than one artist. I liked Chris,Astro and Josh.
I love melanie…Compering the voices I think shes got it.If X factor is about voice and talent melanie should be the winner….I here her notes sound same as cristina aguilera y mariah carrey…. She can go as hi as she wants….And it even sounds better
