Watch Kristine Osorio sing One & Only on American Idol (Video)

The face of responsible parenting, meet Kristine Osorio, a soon-to-be-divorcee who spent the money intended to pay her lawyer on a plane ticket to attend the American Idol auditions in Galveston. On one hand, it sounds like the perfect risk – winning Idol would represent a huge payday for Kristine, and presumably help her family immensely. But on the other hand, if she fails, she’s worsened their financial situation for a reckless gamble!
If Kristine was someone you knew, would you think they were being smart or incredibly dumb auditioning for American Idol?
A little bit of background on Kristine Osorio: aside from impending single-motherhood, she’s 28 years old and hails from Amarillo, Texas. Her occupation is listed as student. She tells us that she’s always been into music and has performed solo and in a band with her soon-to-be-ex husband:
I’ve always done music. I did little bar gigs and cafe gigs and then I met my husband. We had a band together for a couple of years, then I got pregnant, so that kind of got put on pause.
In front of the judges, Kristine performs Adele’s One & Only. Ah! Now we’re getting somewhere! She’s got an irresistably satisfying throaty voice. Well, you could almost tell that just by looking at her – with her cropped black hair and tattoos, Kristine looks like she was built to rock! After hearing a few notes, Jennifer Lopez is thanking God for sending Kristine. Fittingly, Steven Tyler gives the most in-depth commentary on her audition:
Well, I happen to love your high warble. And I love where you go upstairs. Your tenor is beautiful.
All three judges vote her through to the Hollywood rounds, so it looks like Kristine will have a few more flights to pay for. We’ll be watching with interest to see if her gamble pays off!

what is the name of the song that is playing in the background during her interview before she sings?
