Watch Angie Zeiderman flaunt it for American Idol’s judges!

Gaga wannabe Angie Zeiderman

Self-proclaimed “vintage glitter queen”, Angie Zeiderman stormed the American Idol auditions in Aspen like a kooky whirlwind. A 25 year old waitress from Delray Beach in Florida, Zeiderman raved at length about her love for Lady Gaga, saying that she’d love to open for her and be Gaga’s best friend.

Angie kicks off her audition with a bizarre rendition of When You’ve Got It, Flaunt It from The Producers, complete with a zany Swedish accent. The whole routine involves much writhing around on the floor and thrusting her arms in the air. Oh, and we suddenly become aware that the “audition spot”, if not mirrored exactly, is made of a very shiny surface. And Angie is wearing an incredibly short dress. We were concerned for her dignity by the end of the first tune…

However, that audition number literally turns Randy Jackson off. The Dawg tells Angie that he’s not a fan of showtunes because they make people sing with that vibrato. Jennifer Lopez leaps to Zeiderman’s defense and snaps back “How many people could walk in here and do what she just did? Not many.”

Angie seizes her opportunity and sings an alternative song – Blue Bayou – which almost immediately wins Randy over and scores Angie the crucial golden ticket. We’ll be seeing her again in the Hollywood round.

On a parting note, we love what Angie represents – she’s utterly unconventional, and judging by that first audition, she’s not afraid to throw some performance art into her routines. That alone should set her apart from 90% of American Idol auditionees this year. We’re hoping that she gets through to the live rounds, the American public embrace her and vote for her and make her dream of being Gaga’s best friend come true. The main worry though is that people will find her a bit too kooky and they won’t ‘get’ what she’s trying to do.
