Phillip Phillips is just a small town boy in exciting Los Angeles. In his video diary he admitted that he never flew anywhere before Hollywood Week and had never been anywhere quite like Los Angeles. Though he was excited, the big city was still intimidating. Showing this vulnerable side made us love him just a little more.

We first met Phillip in Savannah where he auditioned with a bluesy version of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” At first we were curious to see if Phillip would be as successful when he wasn’t allowed to use a guitar to perform in Hollywood. However, the moment he opened his mouth on stage you knew that he’d be just fine. When compared to other contestants he is easily the Casey Abrams of season 11.

He has this unique talent that no one can compete with. The only one even remotely close is Reed Grimm. He may not win the competition, but he’ll be fun to watch throughout season 11.
